A man was killed Friday night when he was struck by a truck while walking along a dark road in Solon.

Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland said in a press release that the accident happened just before 11 Friday night on Ferry Street in Solon. A truck driven by 18-year-old Seth Burns of Embden was traveling west when it struck a Norridgewock man who was walking along a dark and unlit portion of the road. 31-year-old Joshua Sincyr was killed instantly.

The Toyota Tacoma pickup sustained extensive front end damage. Burns was not hurt. State Police continue to investigate the crash. When the investigation is done, the final report will be reviewed by the district attorney's office. Toxicology tests are pending from both men.

Trooper Andrew Hardy from Troop C in Skowhegan is the primary investigator. Redington Fairview Ambulance, Solon Fire Department personnel, and Charlie's Wrecker also responded to the scene to assist the State Police.
