24 hours after taking one of the most heartbreaking losses of the season, the Red Sox pounded the Detroit Tigers 10-2 Friday night and inched closer to first place in the AL East.

David Ortiz and Jackie Bradley Jr. clubbed two-run homers in the first inning.

Hanley Ramirez had three hits and four RBI.

In total, the Sox banged out 16 hits against Tiger pitching.

Meanwhile, Rick Porcello cruised to his 17th win. His ERA drops to 3.22 after pitching seven innings, allowing just two runs on 4 hits.

Both Toronto and Baltimore lost, allowing the Sox(68-53) to climb within a half game of the top spot in the AL East.

The Red Sox take on Detroit Saturday night in the 3rd game of the 4 game series with the pregame scheduled to start at 6:25 on AM 1370 WDEA.
