Outage & Shelter Update 11 AM
Bangor Hydro Electric Company's linecrews and crews from out of state are working as quickly and safely to restore power to those without. Unfortunately the devastation to the distribution system, along with the forecasted snowfall for the area (3-7 inches) have caused Bangor Hydro to push back their estimated restoration times for those still without power.
If you are still without power, please consider going to one of the over 20 shelters open throughout the state. For a full list click HERE

Restoration Details: | NOTE: ADJUSTED OUTAGE COUNTS FROM PREVIOUS ALERTBangor Hydro Electric Company continues its around-the-clock efforts to get customers restored following this week's ice storm, causing the most damage to the system since the Ice Storm of 1998. Important notes:Estimated restoration times have been adjusted in light of the extensive system damage our crews are finding in the field. We're now looking at restoration times as follows: |
Washington County -end of day Saturday
Bangor/Penobscot County - end of day Sunday
Hancock County - end of day Wednesday
Inclement weather, poor travel conditions and additional falling limbs onto power lines could cause additional outages and delay restoration efforts further.
Crews have been working around-the-clock through the Christmas holiday to get customers restored. Although we appreciate customers' thoughtfulness in offering food and warm beverages to line and tree trimming crews, we're asking that customers please refrain from approaching crews working in the field. When distracted it delays restoration times and diverts their attention and focus on safety.
As some outages stretch into day five, we understand that customers are frustrated. Please do not attempt to remove trees from lines; there is no way to know by just looking at a line if it is energized. It is never safe to touch a downed line or a tree in contact with one.
Please be certain that generators are properly installed and are not back-feeding into the electrical system. That is very dangerous for crews working on nearby power lines.
External crews continue their support of Bangor Hydro line workers and tree trimming crews; 75 line works arrived from New Jersey over Christmas to lend a hand.
If customers are unsure if their outage is in the system they are encourages to call our customer service center at (207) 947-2414 to confirm. Employees from across the company are stepping in to help answer phones in the call center.
