The Ellsworth Police Department announced early Saturday, September 23rd that their department in conjunction with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department would be conducting OUI roving and checkpoint details this weekend.

These details are part of the National Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign and are funded by the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety. In addition to the checkpoints this weekend, the Ellsworth Police Department advised that they will continue over the next few weeks.

They remind you that impaired driving is not just when the driver is under the influence of alcohol. It also occurs when a driver is under the influence of prescribed medication and/or illegal drugs.

Please designated a driver.
