Millions of dollars has been spent on the renovation of the old Moore School in Ellsworth, and this Thursday night is a great opportunity to check out the results!

It's the Grand Opening of the General Bryant E. Moore Community Center is Thursday night between 6:30 and 8.  The ribbon cutting will be at 6:45!

The renovations began in March of last year and have just recently finished up.  The Downeast Family YMCA's family daycare is still in the rear of the building, and the Friends of Action still have their Senior Center, but everything is now bigger and better!  There's now conference rooms, including one that can accommodate up to 200 people, a gym, a renovated kitchen space and a restored 100-seat auditorium!

Any local group can rent out space for their gatherings or meetings, nonprofit organizations can rent for a very minimal charge.

The new Community Center is on State Street in Ellsworth, which is turning into a very busy area of the city.  The new Seaport Village Healthcare recently opened, so did the new senior housing on the Shore Road, and construction continues on the new Knowlton Community Park which is due to open later this year.

Thursday night there will be entertainment by The Memphis Belles at 7pm. Appetizers and refreshments will be provided by Flexit Café & Bakery and Finn’s Irish Pub!

See you there!
