State Police say a man was killed after his motorcycle struck the rear bumper of an SUV.

The crash happened just after noon Saturday on I-295 Northbound in Falmouth. Witnesses told State Police that the motorcyclist was driving his Yamaha bike erratically at a high rate of speed, cutting in and out of traffic. When 21-year-old Alexander Small of Richmond came upon a Honda Pilot in the travel lane, he was unable to slow down in time. His bike hit the rear bumper of the SUV and he lost control of it. Both he and the bike struck the guardrail.

Small died shortly after the accident at a local hospital. The operator of the Honda was 40-year-old Cary Phoenix, and he had 3 passengers. Police say alcohol wasn't a factor for Phoenix. Blood test results are pending for Small.
