The MDI Girls Basketball Team defeated the Winslow Black Raiders 57-51 in overtime on Wednesday night, February 20th. The game went into overtime thanks to Julia Watras' 3-pointer as regulation ended 50-50

Winslow jumped out to an early lead, they were up by 10, 17-7 before MDI went on a 7 point run to end the 1st Quarter, with Winslow up 17-14. Silver Clukey had 8 points with 2 3's for the Black Raiders. Paige Trask had 2 3's for 6 points and Maeghan Bernard had 3 points. For MDI Maddy Candage had 6 points, Hannah Chamberlain and Alexis Clarito each had a 3-pointer for 3 points and Julia Watras 2 points.

In the 2nd Quarter MDI took the lead, as they outscored Winslow 17-9 to take a 31-28 lead at the end of the 1st Half. Hannah Chamberlain and Alexis Clarito continued their 3-point onslaught, with each draining 2 more, for 6 points each, and 3 3's each in the 1st Half. Julia Watras had 3 points and Maddy Candage 2 points for MDI. For Winslow Clukey had 2 more 3's, 4 in the half, and Weslee Littlefield had 5 points with a 3-pointer.

In the 3rd Quarter Winslow outscored MDI 10-6 to lead 38-37 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. For the Black Raiders Weslee Littlefield and Paige Trask each had a 3-pointer, Bohdi Littlefield had 2 points and Clukey was 2-2 from the free throw line. For MDI Clarito and Julia Watras each had 2 points and Candage and Chamberlain each had 1 point.

In the 4th Quarter, Winslow went cold from the free throw line, as MDI was forced to foul. The Black Raiders only made 1 of 8 free throws and the score was tied 50-50 at the end of regulation. For MDI Watras had 5 points, with the game tying 3-pointer. Candage had 5 points before fouling out and Chamberlain added another 3-pointer, her 4th of the game.  For Winslow Clukey, and Bohdi Littlefield each had 4 points, Trask her 4th 3-pointer and Maeghan Bernard 1 point, going 1-5 from the free throw line.

In overtime Hannah Chamberlain drained her 5th 3-pointer and Alexis Clarito went 2-2 from the free throw line. Lindsay McEachern and Julia Watras each had a free throw for 1 point. Winslow's lone point in overtime came from Weslee Littlefield.

MDI was led by Hannah Chamberlain with 16 points. Maddy Candage had 14 points and Julia Watras and Alexis Clarito each had 13 points. The Trojans were 8-19 from the free throw line.

Winslow was led by Silver Clukey with a game high 20 points while Paige Trask had 12 points. The Black Raiders were 5-14 from the free throw line.

MDI now 18-2 will play unbeaten Waterville, 20-0 on Saturday afternoon February 23rd at the Cross Insurance Center for the Northern Maine Class B Championships. That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.

Winslow's season comes to an end with a record of 14-7
