The Old Town Coyotes nipped the Ellsworth Eagles 2-0 on Friday May 13th in Old Town despite a tremendous pitching performance by freshman Conner Wagstaff, who threw a complete game in the loss.

The game was scoreless going into the bottom of the 4th inning when Cole Daniel doubled with 1 out. Jacob Ketch singled, moving Daniel to 3rd and then Troy Crawford walked to load the bases. Nick Magood then flied to center, and Daniel scored on the sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the 6th inning the Coyotes scored an insurance run when Ketch doubled to start the inning. He advanced to 3rd on an error and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Hoogterp.

Ellsworth managed 4 hits. Hunter Cote was 2-2 with a walk and a stolen base. Sam Giffin had a double and Avery Anderson had a single and stolen base.

Kaleb Gifford pitched for Old Town, throwing the shutout and picking up the win. He struck out 7 while walking 2.

For Old Town, Ketch was 3-3 with a double, Cole Daniel had a double and Drew Coloumbe, Ethan Stoddard and Kaleb Gifford had singles.

Conner Wagstaff took the tough luck loss for Ellsworth. He struck out 1 and walked 3.

Ellsworth is now 3-6 and play at Foxcroft Academy on Tuesday, May 17th at 4:30 PM.

Old Town is 9-1 and plays at Hermon on Tuesday, May 17th at 4:30 PM.
