Steven Wright lasted just 4.2 innings, allowing seven runs. Four of those runs were unearned as the Sox committed two crucial errors in the Rangers 5-run 5th inning. Wright did give up eight hits and two walks. It's only the second time this season Wright has given up more than three runs in an outing. His ERA went up from 2.01 to 2.18.

On offense, the Sox managed just seven hits. Hanley Ramirez did hit a home run, his 8th.

The Sox are 41-33 and with the Orioles winning two games from Tampa Bay, the Sox slip three games behind the Birds in the AL East. The Sox do hold down the top wildcard spot at the moment.
