Nan was hired in the fall of 1988 to work in the nursery at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital as a CNA. Her nurse manager convinced her to go to nursing school. She enrolled at Eastern Maine Community College in 1992 and graduated in 1994. After working night shifts, she decided it was time for a change that offered a better work/life balance. She spent about 17 years of her career in Home Health Care. Now she works inside the hospital as an educator and a specialty nurse handling everything from Imaging, outpatient services, wound care, and nuclear medicine. When she’s not caring for patients, she and her family grow wild Maine blueberries at their farm in East Orland.

Nan Boutin has the skills to work in any department at any time and often does this when departments are short on staff or very busy.  She has  worked in clinical IS, clinical education, cardiac outpatient services, and has been the go to for complicated wounds.
