Two people passed away last night, Monday July 1st, in a crash that involved 4 individuals. State Police say their investigation revealed that the vehicle, a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer, pulled out of Tideway Market in Hancock and headed north on Route 1 towards Sullivan, near Ruth and Wimpy's Restaurant.

The vehicle started to pass another vehicle when it went off the road striking a parked pick-up truck and then rolled over.

Killed in the crash were 20 year old Edward Fowler of Franklin, and 16 year old Brittany Poors of Ellsworth. Fowler and Poors were cousins. Poors was pronounced dead at the scene, while Fowler died at Main Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth.

Two other passengers were also injured in the crash, 20 year old Sabrina Park-Legasse of Sedgwick and 17 year old Gary Goodrich of Ellsworth. Both were transported to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital and later released.

Police are reporting that none of the four were wearing seat belts when their car crashed.

County Ambulance, Hancock Fire Department and Hancock Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.

Route 1 was closed for approximately an hour and a half.
