The Boston Red Sox were embarrassed at Fenway Park on Mother's Day, May 14th losing to the Tampa Bay Rays 11-2. The Red Sox were trailing 3-2 at the end of the 7th inning, but then Tampa Bay scored 1 run int he 8th inning and then 7 in the 9th inning.

Drew Pomeranz left after 3 innings with left triceps soreness. He allowed 2 runs, both earned on 3 hits while walking and striking out 3. The relievers did a good job until the wheels came off the bus when Robbie Ross Jr. allowed 3 runs and Heath Hembree gave up 4 runs

The Red Sox managed only 6 hits - 2 singles by Christian Vazquez, a double by Xander Bogaerts, and singles by Dustin Pedroia, Hanley Ramirez and Devin Marrero.

The Red Sox are off on Monday, before opening a 2 game series in St. Louis against the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday, May 16th.
