The Boston Red Sox were trailing the Blue Jays 2-1 in the bottom of the 4th when Mookie Betts came to the plate with the bases loaded and 2 out. 13 pitches later the bases were clear and the Red Sox were leading 5-2 after Mookie Betts hit a monster grand slam over the Green Monster and out of Fenway Park.

Betts the batting leader at .352 was 2-5 with 5 RBIs.

Jackie Bradley Jr. was 2-2 with a double and Blake Swihart who came in to replace Steve Pearce had a double. Pearce had to leave the game after getting hit with  a fastball in the shin by J.A Happ.

David Price, coming off of 2 sub-par performances went 6.2 innings picking up the win. He's now 10-6. He went 6.2 innings allowing 6 hits and 3 runs. 2 of the hits were homers. He struck out 8 and didn't walk a batter.

Craig Kimbrel picked up his 29th save, pitching a scoreless 9th inning.

The Red Sox remain 3.5 games ahead of the New York Yankees who beat Cleveland Thursday night 7-4.

The Red Sox will send Rick Porcello (11-3) to the mound Friday night when they take on the Blue Jays in the 2nd game of the 4 game series. The pregame starts at 6:25 with the 1st pitch at 7:10 on AM 1370 WDEA
