The MDI Volleyball Team went down to Southern Maine undefeated with a 6-0 record and came back to the Island 6-2, losing to Scarborough 3-0 on Friday, and Falmouth 3-1 on Saturday.

According to Coach Corey

MDI faced it's toughest competition of the season to date, playing Scarborough on Friday night. While we played with them at times, and did a lot of things well, we were unable to sustain any momentum. Our serving game was off and this made it hard for us to keep up with Sacarborough's offense. Overall, I think it was a good match, and we see the work we have to do, but it's not insurmountable.

MDI Stat Leaders on Friday
Mackenzie Hanna: 2 kills, 6 assists, 3 digs
Alaina Duley: 1 kill, 1 block, 4 digs
Emma Forthofer: 23 service receptions, 3 digs

On Saturday afternoon, MDI took on Falmouth

According to Coach Corey

After losing the first set 25-15, MDI jumped out to an early lead, getting ahead by as many as 10 points.  The offense was clicking and serving was on, and it looked like we had found our rhythm.  Unfortunately this would be short lived as Falmouth took control back in the third set on their way to a 4 set victory.  It’s hard to win on the road, especially after traveling a long way, and I think we lost mental focus in this game.  The girls played up, never getting down or frustrated with each other, but we still have some work to do in the mental game.

MDI Stat Leaders Saturday
Grace Higgins: 1 ace, 9 kills, 1 block, 6 digs
Mackenzie Hanna: 1 ace, 2 kills, 13 assists, 5 digs
Emma Forthofer: 2 aces, 34 service receptions, 20 digs

MDI is back on the court Monday afternoon, September 26th playing host to Machias at 5:30 PM
