The MDI Trojans Softtball Team split a doubleheader with Caribou on Saturday May 27th in Bar Harbor, dropping the 1st Game 6-3 and winning Game 2 5-2. Madison Thornton hit her 2nd homer of the season in the second game for the Trojans!

In the 1st game, Caribou won 6-3. Lindsey McEachern pitched a complete game for the Trojans, allowing 6 runs, 5 of which were earned and giving up 10 hits. She struck out 6 and didn't walk anyone.

Holli McDougal was 3-4 for Caribou, with a home run and 2 singles. Rachel Soucy had 2 hits, with a double and single. Jaelynn Doody, Emily Adler, Katelyn Clark, Kaytlin Waldemarson and Heather DeMerchant all had singles for the Vikings.

Rachel Soucy was in the circle for Caribou and pitched a complete game for the win, allowing 6 hits, 3 runs, and striking out 3 and walking 2.

Emily York had a double for the Trojans. Lindsey McEachern, Hannah Chamberlain, Lily Cook, Madison Neal and Mackenzie Dyer all had singles for MDI. Chamberlain had a stolen base and McEachern and Neal were caught stealing.

In the 2nd game Emily York threw a complete game for MDI, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits, walking 3 and striking out 3.

Waldemarson, DeMerchant and Adler each had a single for the Vikings.

Soucy pitched the 2nd game for the Vikings, allowing 5 runs, 6 hits, walking 3 and striking out 3.

For MDI Madison Thornton was 2-3 with a homer and triple. Hannah Chamberlain had a double, as did Ruby Brown. Lily Cook and Hannah Hanscom each had a single for the Trojans.

MDI is now 5-9 on the season with 2 games remaining in the regular season, at Ellsworth on Wednesday, May 31st at 3:30 PM and then at Old Town on Thursday, June 1st at 4:30 PM.

Caribou is 4-11 with 1 game remaining in the regular season, at home against Presque Isle on Wednesday, May 31st at 4:30 PM.
