It was a great Saturday afternoon for the MDI Softball team as they swept 3 games in Southern Maine, defeating Kennebunk 8-3, Lake Region 9-3 and Lewiston 4-1. MDI opens the Spring season on Thursday, April 23rd with a game at George Steven's Academy and then hosts a doubleheader against Foxcroft Academy on Saturday, April 25th.

In the first game, the 8-3 victory over Kennebunk, Molly Carroll blasted a home run, and ended up 2-2 with 2 RBIs. The Trojans had 4 hits during the game, with Darcy Kanu and Riley Mooers collecting the other hits. Haley Littlefield pitched 4 innings, striking out 7 and allowing just 1 unearned run.

In Game 2, the 9-3 victory over Lake Region, Madison Thornton started in the circle for MDI. She pitched well, going 4innings to pick up the win. She allowed 3 earned runs, struck out 2 and walked 2 and gave up 3 hits.  Ali Bierman was 3-3 batting driving in 2 runs for MDI. Katie Guarino, Julianna Cleaves and Darcy Kanu also had RBIs for MDI. Avalon Kerley and Cleaves had 2 hits.Molly Carroll, Guarino, Riley Mooers and Cassidy Parady each had a hit for MDI.  MDI ran wild on the base paths, with 9 stolen bases as Bierman and Kanu each had 3, while Mooers, Kerley and Cleaves had 1 each.

In the final game the 4-1 victory over Lewiston, Aubrey Boyce and Haley Littlefield shared the pitching duties, each going 3 innings. Boyce gave up 1 unearned run and struck out 4 while walking 2 and allowing 1 hit. Littlefield struck out 4 and didn't allow a walk or hit.  Darcy Kanu was 1-3 with 3 RBIs from the leadoff position and blasted a home run in the top of the 5th inning. Avalon Kerley was 2-3. Aubrie Boyce, Molly Carroll, Ali Bierman, Cassidy Parady, Madison Thornton and Julianna Cleaves each singled for the Trojans.
