The MDI Trojan's Softball team played host to Hermon on Monday, May 13th and fell 8-5 as the Trojans committed 6 errors in the game.

MDI scored first, in the bottom of the 1st inning. Shelby O'Neil walked and advanced to 3rd on a sacrifice bunt by Sierra Myrick. O'Neil then scored when Hannah Shaw reached first base on an error by the Hermon third baseman.

Hermon scored twice in the top of the 2nd inning to take a 2-1 lead. With two out, Clair Peterson singled and stole 2nd. Hailey Perry reached 1st base on an error on the MDI shortstop, and that moved Peterson over to 3rd. Perry stole 2nd base, and then both Peterson and Perry scored on a single by Allessa Oakes.

MDI took the lead in the bottom of the 4th inning, as they pushed across 2 runs, to take a 3-2 lead. Avalon Kerley singled, and stole 2nd. Katie Guarino reached 1st base on an error on the Hermon first baseman, and Kerley advanced to 3rd base. Guarino then stole 2nd base. Kerley scored when Ali Bierman grounded out to 1st base, and Guarino advanced to 3rd base.  Guarino then scored when Deandra Kanu grounded out to the pitcher.

Hermon scored 4 runs in the top of the 5th inning. Allessa Oakes singled, and  stole 2nd base. She then scored when  Sydney Addessi reached 2nd base on a two base error on the MDI right fielder. Addessi advanced to 3rd base when Karli Therbridge flew out to right field and then scored when Shaniah Haskell reached on an error on the MDI 2nd baseman. Kylie Kennedy reached on an error, advancing Haskell and then Haskell scored on another error by MDI. Kennedy scored on a single by Clair Peterson.

Hermon scored twice more in the top of the 6th inning. Oakes singled, Addessi reached on another Trojan error and then both Oakes and Addessi scored on a single by Karli Therbridge.

MDI got 1 run back in the bottom of the 6th inning. Hannah Shaw walked and stole 2nd. She advanced to 3rd on a ground out by Avalon Kerley and scored on Katie Guarino's single.

MDI scored their final run in the 7th inning. O'Neil walked and advanced to 3rd on Sierra Myrick's single. With two outs Guarino singled scoring O'Neil, but Guarino grounded out to 2nd to end the game.

With the loss MDI falls to 6-3. They will get a chance for a little revenge, as they next play Tuesday, May 20th at Hermon at 4:30 PM. Hermon is now 6-1 and plays John Bapst on Friday, May 15th at 4:30.
