MDI Nipped in Overtime Losing to Hermon 44-40 [Box Score/Recap/Photos]

On Friday, January 19th Hermon blew out MDI 68-35 in Hermon. Five days dater on Tuesday, January 24th MDI forced Hermon into overtime before losing 44-40 at Bernard Parady Gymnasium in Bar Harbor, the MDI Trojan's 2nd game of 4 this week.

Hermon led 8-5 at the end of the 1st Quater. Maddie Pullen had 4 points with a 3-pointer, Alex Allain had 3 points and Madi Curtis had 1 point. For the Trojans Emily Banks had 3 points and Maddy Good had 2 points.

MDI took a 14-13 lead at the end of the 1st Half, outscoring Hermon 9-5 in the 2nd Quafter. Maddy Good had 5 points for MDI going 3-4 from the free throw line. Julia Watras and Maddy Candage had 2 points each. For Hermon, Brooke Cowan had 3 points and Allain had 2 points.

MDI led 25-24 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. For Hermon, Pullen had 3 3-pointers for 9 points and Curtis had 2 points.  For MDI, Candage had 8 points, Hannah Chamberlain had 2 points and Watras was 1-2 from the free throw line.

MDI led for much of the 4th Quarter, but the Hawks took a late lead with just a couple of minutes left. They were up 36-34 until Julia Watras tied the game with no time left, putting the Hawks and Trojans into a 36-36 tie as the buzzer sounded to end the 4th Quarter. In the 4th Quarter MDI was 7-8 from the free throw line with Watras having 6 points, including a 3-pointer. Candage and Good were each 2-2 from the free throw line and Banks was 1-2.  For Hermon Paige Plissey had 5 points, Grace Page 4 points, Alex Allain 2 points and Cowan 1 point.

In Overtime, Hermon was 6-9 from the free throw line. Page had 4 points, Maddie Pullen was 3-5 from the free throw line and Brooke Cowan was 1-2. For MDI Alexis Clarito had a 3-pointer and Rachelle Swanson was 1-2 from the free throw line.

MDI was led by Maddy Candage with 12 points and Julia Watras and Maddy Good each had 9 points. The Trojans were 16-26 from the free throw line.

Hermon was led by Maddie Pullen with a game high 16 points and Grace Page had 8 points. The Hawks were 12-22 from the free throw line.

MDI, 9-4 plays host to Caribou on Friday night, January 26th at 6 PM and Presque Isle on Saturday, January 27th at 1 PM. The pregames will begin at 5:45 and 12:45 on the respective days, with the games being broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device
