The MDI Girl's Varsity Soccer Team won their 1st game of the season, on Wednesday, September 14th defeating Washington Academy 6-1, in Bar Harbor.  Ally Bender had a hat trick for the Trojans.

Ashley Porter scored for Washington Academy with 23:40 left in the 1st Half, to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead

Bender tied the game, two minutes later, on a through ball delivered by Cadi Howell. Paige Mason scored what would be the game winner, with 8:22 left in the 1st Half, to put MDI up 2-1.

Adriana Novella found the back of the net with 4:10 left in the Half, with the assist going to Daisy Granholm.  The score at the end of the Half was 3-1.

Just seconds into the 2nd Half, Novella intercepted a pass from Washington Academy sending a long pass to Bender who put it past the Raider goalie inside the far post.

Bender scored her 3rd goal of the game with an assist from Mei Cook, scoring just outside the 18 yard line on the right wing.

Abbe Miller scored the final goal of the afternoon, with an assist from Natalie Klaver as Miller volleyed the cross into the back of the net.

According to Coach May Dow MDI's back line played a solid game holding Washington Academy to limited scoring opportunities.

MDI's Cassia Barnes saved a penalty kick in the 1st Half, and finished with 3 saves on 4 shots.

Washington Academy's Hannah Atcherson made 10 saves on 28 shots on goal.

MDI is 1-4 and plays at Presque Isle on Saturday, September 17 at 1 PM.

Washington Academy is 3-2 and plays at Narraguagus on Monday, September 19th at 4 PM.
