MDI Girls Sink Vikings 78-45

The MDI Girl's Basketball team raced out to a 28-5 lead after the 1st Quarter in Bar Harbor, Friday, December 27th and never looked back as they defeated the Caribou vikings 78-45.

MDI controlled the offensive boards in the 1st Quarter, as many of their points were scored off of put backs. Hannah Shaw had 10 points in the 1st Quarter for MDI, Molly Carroll had 7 including a 3-pointer and Sierra Myrick drained a 3-pointer for the Trojans as well. Maddie Doucette had a 3-pointer for Caribou.

In the 2nd Quarter, the Trojans continued their domination, outscoring Caribou 18-9. Sierra Tapley had 7 points for MDI off the bench in the quarter, including a 3-pointer. Sarah Phelps also added a 3-pointer for MDI. Bria Judd was the leading scorer for Caribou in the quarter with 4 points. At the end of the 1st Half, MDI led 46-14.

It was 68-23 Trojans after 3 Quarters. The Shaw sisters, Kelsey and Hannah each scored 7 points in the quarter for MDI. Five Vikings had 2 points for Caribou in the quarter.

In the 4th Quarter, MDI played all of their subs, and emptied the bench. Sara Norberg had 5 points for MDI including a 3-pointer. Delaney Williams had 5 points in the 4th Quarter for Caribou, and Maddie Doucette added a 3-pointer.

MDI was led by Hannah Shaw with 19 points, while Sierra Tapley poured in 12 points. Caribou was led by Bria Judd with 14 points while Malari Page and Delaney Williams each had 7 points. MDI was 9-18 from the free throw line, with 6 3-pointers. Caribou was 12-21 from the free throw line with 3 3-pointers.

MDI remains undefeated at 6-0 and plays 7-0 Presque Isle Saturday, December 28th at Bernard Parady Gymnasium at 11:30 in a game that will be carried on WDEA AM 1370 and WDEA Internet Radio. Caribou falls to 2-2, and will play 2-4 Ellsworth tomorrow at 11:30 at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth.
