The MDI Girls Soccer Team took the long drive Downeast to take on the Washington Academy Raiders in East Machias on Thursday afternoon and came away with a 6-0 victory.  It was the Trojan's 4th shutout victory this season.

Zoe Olson scored for the Trojans with just 1:15 elapsed, with an assist from Rachel Leonard.

Julia Watras scored on a corner kick by Leila Weir with 31:03 remaining in the 1st Half.

Weir made it 3-0 when her corner kick deflected off a Raider defender with 21:31 remaining.

Watras scored her 2nd goal of the game with 2:43 remaining in the 1st Half off of a cross from Maddy Candage. That made the score 4-0 at the end of the 1st Half.

With 27:20 remaining in the game, Leonard found a cutting Olson who shot the ball into the back of the net over the outstretched hands of the Raider's goalkeeper, for her 2nd goal of the game.

Weir, not to be outdone, scored her 2nd goal with 21:04 remaining, scoring on a direct kick from 25 yards out.

Sabine Costello-Sanders started in goal and Haley Leonardi played in goal in the 2nd Half for MDI. Naomi Campbell was in goal for Washington Academy.

MDI, now 5-1 travels up to play Caribou on Saturday, September 22nd at 1PM.

Washington Academy 1-4 plays host to Calais on Monday, September 24th at 6PM.
