MDI Girls Roll Over Bapst 10-1

The MDI Girl's Softball team bounced back from their first loss of the season on Monday, May 5th to Old Town, defeating John Bapst, Wednesday May 7th in Bar Harbor 10-1.

MDI scored first, in the bottom of the 1st inning. Shelby O'Neil singled to start the game. She then stole second, and Sierra Myrick walked. They both stole third and second respectively, and then O'Neil scored on a ground out by Molly Carroll.

In the bottom of the 2nd inning, MDI pushed across 3 more runs, all with two outs. Haley Littlefield scored and Cassidy Paradis did as well as Shelby O'Neil tripled. O'Neil then scored on Myrick's single. The score at the end of two innings was MDI 4 John Bapst 0.

In the bottom of the 3rd inning, MDI added 2 more runs. Hannah Shaw singled to start the inning, and stole 2nd base. She then scored on Deandra Kanu's single. Kanu scored on Cassidy Paradis' fielder's choice. At the end of three innings it was MDI 6 John Bapst 0.

John Bapst would score their only run of the game in the top of the 5th inning. Maddi Higgins singled, and advanced to second on Caitlin Abbott's ground out to 3rd base. She then went to 3rd base on Carley Scanlon's ground out to 2nd base, and scored on Maliyan Binette's single.

MDI answered with 4 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning. Anna Busker singled to start the inning and stole 2nd base. Ali Bierman reached on an error and Busker went to 3rd. Busker then scored on a passed ball, and Bierman went to 3rd. Aubrie Boyce singled, and Bierman scored on O'Neil's single.  Boyce and O'Neil would both score on Sierra Myrick's single.

Haley Littlefield pitched 5 innings for her 5th win on the season. She allowed 1 earned run, 5 hits and 2 walks. She struck out 2. Aubrie Boyce pitched 2 scoreless, hitless innings in relief, allowing no walks and striking out 1.

Shelby O'Neil continued her torrid hitting in the season, going 3-4, with a triple,scoring 3 runs and knocking in 2 runs. Sierra Myrick had 3 runs batted in.

MDI is now 5-1 on the season. MDI plays a doubleheader this Saturday, May 10th in Presque Isle at 12 Noon and 2 PM. John Bapst is 2-4 on the season, and play at Caribou this Saturday, May 10th in a doubleheader at 2 PM and 4 PM.

The MDI Boys' Baseball team fell to John Bapst 5-3.
