MDI Girls Lose to Presque Isle 58-44
The MDI Girl's Basketball Team lost their 3rd game in a row on Wednesday night, falling to the Presque Isle Wildcats 58-44 at Bernard Parady Gymnasium.
The Trojans were in it through the 1st Half, as the score was tied 8-8 at the end of the 1st Quarter, and 17-17 at the end of the 1st Half. But in the 3rd Quarter, Presque Isle outscored MDI 22 -8 with Emily Wheaton doing most of the damage scoring 14 points in the 3rd Quarter, including 2 3-pointers. The Trojans were able to draw within 5 points in the 4th Quarter, but Presque Isle converted their free throws, going 13-17 from the free throw line in the 4th Quarter to seal the win.
MDI was led by Maya Watras with 13 points while Maddy Candage had 11 points. Abbe Miller and Mariah Hamor each had a 3-pointer. MDI was 8-13 from the free throw line.
Presqe Isle was led by Emily Wheaton with a game high 25 points and Emily Lagerstrom had 12 points. The Wildcats hit 8 3-pointers, 3 by Wheaton and Lagerstrom and 1 each by Meg Boone and Kasey Haley. Presque Isle was 18-23 from the free throw line in the game.
MDI is now 7-5 and will play host to Central on Saturday, January 21 in a Coaches vs. Cancer game. The game on Saturday will take place at 4:30 which is a change from the originally scheduled time. The game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.
Presque Isle is now 8-3 and plays at Foxcroft Academy on Saturday, January 21st at 3 PM.
MDI and Presque Isle will play again, on Friday, January 27th at 6 PM, this time in Presque Isle.
