MDI Girls Defeat Foxcroft 74-46
The MDI Lady Trojans played back to back games, after defeating John Bapst 74-37 on Monday, January 13th, and on Tuesday, January 14th defeated the Foxcroft Academy Ponies 74-46 at Bernard Paradis Gymnasium in Bar Harbor.
MDI jumped out to a 20-6 1st Quarter lead, and never looked back. Sierra Myrick hit a 3 pointer and a free throw, and she was one of four Trojans with 4 points in the 1st Quarter. Molly Carroll, Hannah Shaw and Keely McConomy all pumped in 4 points for MDI, and Brianna Skolfield had 4 points for Foxcroft Academy.
In the 2nd Quarter Sierra Myrick added 2 more 3 pointers for MDI, and Kelsey Shaw added 7 points. Foxcroft Academy's Brittany Dyer netted 2 3-pointers, Mackenzie Coiley added a 3-pointer and 2 free throws, and Julia Annis added 6 points for the Ponies. At the end of the 1st Half, MDI led 39-25
The Trojans lead was still 14 points at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Kelsey Shaw added 7 points for MDI and Myrick hit her 4th 3-pointer of the night. Skolfield added 5 points and Brittany Dyer added her 3rd 3-pointer.
In the 4th Quarter, MDI poured in 21 points. Kelsey Shaw had 7, as did her sister Hannah Shaw. Brianna Skolfield had 4 points for Foxcroft Academy and the final was MDI 74 Foxcroft Academy 46.
MDI was led by Kelsey Shaw who had a game high 23 points, coming off of 20 points on Monday, January 13th. Sierra Myrick had 15 points and Hannah Shaw, after scoring her 1000th point on January 13th,added 13 points. Brianna Skolfield wasthe leading scorer for Foxcroft Academy with15 points, and Brittany Dyer and Mackenzie Coiley each had 9 points.
Foxcroft Academy wore pink uniforms in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.
With the victory, MDI improved to 11-1 on the season, and next will play at Hermon, on Friday, January 17th at 7 PM in a game that will be aired on WDEA AM 1370. Foxcroft Academy falls to 6-6 on the season, and will play at Caribou on Saturday, January 18th at 1:30 PM
