The MDI Girls improved to 6-0 and remain the lone unbeaten team in Class B North after handily defeating Caribou 71-50, in a game that was not as close as the score might indicate. Every MDI Trojan scored in the game.

Caribou kept it close in the 1st Quarter as MDI led 24-18. Kelsey Shaw led MDI with 8 points, Sierra Tapley had 7 points including a 3-pointer and Abbe Miller had a 3-pointer. For Caribou Searra Herbert had 8 points including a 3-pointer, Gabrielle Marquis had 7 points with a 3-pointer and Jenna Boucher had a 3-pointer.

MDI turned up the defensive pressure in the 2nd Quarter, limiting Caribou to just 3 points, all coming from the free throw line. For MDI Tapley had 2 3-pointers for 6 points, Shaw had 4 points and Emma Watras had 2 points as MDI led 36-21 at the half, despite resting their starters for the majority of the quarter.

In the 3rd Quarter MDI's starters were in for minutes before turning the game over to the reserves. Shaw had 7 points, Tapley had a 3 pointer, and Athena Laurendeau, Maddy Candage, Emma Watras and Keely McConomy each had 2 points. For Caribou Herbert had 6 pointys and Danielle Hanson had 3 points. At the end of the 3rd Quarter MDI led 54-30.

 

The 4th Quarter belonged to the MDI reserves. Mariah Hamor had 7 points, and Maya Watras, Julia Watras, Laurendau, Candage and Cassidy Parady all had 2 points. For Caribou Marquis had 7 points includind 2 3-pointers, Herbert had 8 points and Madison Doucette had 4 points.

MDI was led by Kelsey Shaw with 19 points, and Sierra Tapley had 16. The Trojans were 7-23 from the free throw line.

Caribou was led by Searra Herbert with 22 points while Gabrielle Marquis had 14 points. The Vikings were 13-27 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 6-0 and plays at Presque Isle 4-1 at 1 PM, on Thursday December 31, in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.

Caribou now 1-4, plays host to Ellsworth 5-1 at 11:30 AM on Thursday December 31.
