MDI Girls 66 Caribou 26 [Box Score]

A day after the MDI Girl's Basketball Team defeated Presque Isle 47-41the Trojans played Caribou on Saturday afternoon, January 23rd. Coach Brent Barker cautioned the girls about a let-down, and he needn't have worried, as the Trojans came out flying, playing inspired basketball, defeating the Vikings 66-26.

In the 1st Quarter, the Trojans took a 20-2 lead. Caribou was hld scorelss for the first 3:48 as MDI went on a 10-0 run. Kesley Shaw scored 10 points in the 1st Quarter and Maya Watras, Abbe Miller, Maddy Candage, Mariah Hamor and Keely McConomy all scord 2 points. Gabrielle Marquis had Caribou's 2 points.

MDI outscored Caribou 14-7 in the 2nd Quarter, to take a 34-9 lead at the end of the 1st Half. Shaw had 9 points, including a 3-point shot from half court as time expired. Athena Laurendeau had a 3-pointer, and Candage had 2 points. Searra Herbert had all 7 points in the quarter for Caribou.

MDI outscored Caribou 20-10 to take a 54-19 lead at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Shaw had 6 more points, McConomy had 4 points, Cassidy Parady had 4 points, Candage had 3 points, Laurendeau had 2 points and Hamor 1 point for the Trojans. For Caribou Rachel Soucy had 5 points, Madison Doucette had 2 points, Jenna Boucher had 2 points and Hope Shea had 1 point.

In the 4th Quarter, Julia Watras had 5 points, including a 3-pointer, Laurendeau had 5 points including a 3-pointer and Emma Watras had 2 points. For Caribou Doucette had 4 points, Danielle Hanson had 2 points, and Katelyn Clark had 1 point.

MDI was led by Kelsey Shaw who had 25 points, while Athena Laurendeau had 10 points and Maddy Candage had 7 points. MDI was 8-10 from the free throw line.

Caribou was led by Searra Herbert with 7 points while Madison Doucette had 6 points and Rachel Soucy had 5 points . Caribou was 4-9 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 14-1 and plays at Hermon on Tuesday, January 26th at 7 PM.

Caribou is 3-12 and plays at Central on Saturday, January 30th at 6:30 PM.
