The game Saturday afternoon between MDI and Houlton featured the two unbeaten teams, and didn't disappoint, as the two teams battled back and forth until MDI came away with the 47-41 victory in Bar Harbor. This game had added significance, as it's the only time the two teams will meet in the regular season.

Houlton jumped out to a 4-0 early lead, before MDI answered and took a 13-9 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Kelsey Shaw, Sierra Tapley and Keely McConomy each scored 4 points for MDI. Kollen Bouchard had 5 points and Chelsea Gentle and Rylee Warman each had 2 points for Houlton. Houlton lost senior Katie Condon for the rest of the game, with a left injury during the 1st Quarter.

At the half, MDI led 23-22. Bouchard had 7 points in the 2nd Quarter for Houlton, and Natalie Hill, Gentle and Warman each chipped in 2 points. For MDI, Maya Watras had 4 points, while Maddy Candage had 2 points and Tapley and McConomy each had 2 points for the Trojans.

At the end of the 3rd Quarter, the score was tied 30-30. McConomy had 4 points and Shaw had 3 points for MDI. Natalie Hill had 5 points, including a 3-pointer, and Rylee Warman had a 3-pointer for Houlton.

In the 4th Quarter, Tapley had 9 points for MDI, and the Trojans went 9-13 from the free throw line, as Houlton was forced to foul. Aspen Flewelling had 6 points, including 2 3-pointers for Houlton. Gentle fouled out of the game with 5 fouls, with 6:30 remaining in the 4th Quarter.

MDI was led by Sierra Tapley with 15 points, while Keely McConomy had 12 points. The Trojans were 15-24 from the free throw line.

Houlton was led by Kolleen Bouchard with 15 points while Rylee Warman had 9 points. Houlton was 6-9 from the free throw line.

MDI, remains unbeaten on the season and are now 5-0. The Trojans travel to Aroostook County on January 29th and 30th to play Presque Isle on the 29th at 5 PM and Caribou on the 30th at 1 PM. Both games will be broadcast on WDEA AM 1370 and WDEA Internet Radio.

Houlton suffered it's first loss of the season and are now 4-1. Houlton is back in action on Tuesday, December 22nd when they host Caribou at 7 PM.
