The MDI Girls beat Washington Academy 14-0 on Wednesday, October 7th in Bar Harbor.  Opal Curless and Darcy Kanu each had hat tricks for the Trojans. A total of 8 different Trojans scored for MDI.

 

MDI started their run just 1:19 into the game when Opal Curless sent in a shot from the right side of the 18 going far post from 20 yards out. \

A minute and a half later, Curless sent in a through ball to Ally Bender who followed in on her first attempt and found the back of net from 8 yards out in the middle.

Thirty seconds later, Curless chipped the ball up over the Washington Academy defense where Ellie Bridgers raced on and sent a low hardball into the back of the net from 15 yards out.

Curless got her third assist of the game one minute later when she sent a through ball to Adriana Novella who received it in the right and fired it from 20 yards out going far post.

At the 32:24 mark, Paige Mason sailed her goal in the back of the net off a direct kick from 25 yards out.

Just under two minutes later, Kanu scored the first of three goals when she dribbled in past the Washington Academy defense and went near post with a low ball from 8 yards out.

With 27:29 left in the first half, Curless scored her second goal of the game when she dribbled in past the Raider's defense and beat the Washington Academy goalie from just inside the six yard line.

MDI had a 7-0 lead going into halftime with six different players scoring in the first half.

A minute and fifteen seconds into the second half, Novella fed Kanu the ball and Kanu sent the ball from the right side 15 yards out into the upper 90.

Curless capped her third goal of the game just five minutes into the second half when Kanu sent her a supporting pass back and Curless dribbled in and found the back of the net.

With 21:26 remaining, Kanu registered her third goal of the game off a header from Paige Mason's corner kick.

Novella got her second goal of the game five minutes later when she sent in a high ball from 20 yards out.

India Janes recorded her first career goal with 10:51 left in the game when she sent a low hard ball far post.

Janes got her second goal of the game just seven minutes later when Abbe Miller sent in a cross from the right wing and found Janes ready far post.

Miller capped off the game with 2:06 remaining in the game with her first career goal off a Georgia Hansbury cross from the left wing which was redirected by a WA defender where Miller was ready to head the ball in.

MDI goalkeeper Keely McConomy made 3 saves on 5 shots while WA goalkeeper Hannah Atcherson made 7 saves on 26 shots.

MDI now 8-3 plays host to John Bapst on Tuesday October 13th at 4 PM. Washington Academy 3-5-2 plays at Lee Academy on Saturday October 10th at 12 Noon.
