The MDI Trojans hosted the Caribou Vikings, Tuesday afternoon, June 4th in a Class B Baseball game in a 8-9 battle and MDI came away with a 4-1 victory.

Ben Walls went the distance for MDI pitching a complete game, striking out 9 and walking 2. He hit the catcher, Mike Selander in the 5th inning. Walls allowed 4 hits, one of which was a towering home run to left centerfield by Sean Sadler, the Caribou third baseman in the 5th inning.

Matt Curry pitched a complete game, allowing 4 runs and 7 hits. Curry struck out 5 Trojans, and walked 1.

MDI had 8 stolen bases, 2 in the first inning, 3 in the second inning and 3 in the third inning.

Jon Phelps went 2-3 with two singles and reached base in the 6th inning on an error by Sean Sadler the Caribou 3rd baseman. Phelps had 1 RBI.

Jack Sasner had a single and RBI in the 1st inning. Keegan McKim drove in Ryan Littlefiled in the 2nd inning on a ground out. Littlefield had reached first base after the Caribou first baseman, Cody Herbert, misplayed an infield popup.

Ryan Littlefield singled in the 3rd inning driving in Tom Paola who had singled with one out. Littlefield also had a double in the 6th inning.

MDI will now play the #1 seed John Bapst Thursday afternoon. With the win, MDI improves to 10-7 while Caribou finishes the year at 11-6.
