The MDI Softball Team took the long ride to East Machias Tuesday afternoon, May 5th and came away with a convincing 31-0 victory as the Trojans banged out 25 hits with Madison Thornton going 5-6 with a Grand Slam and Emily York limiting the Raiders to just 2 hits.

Thornton was 5-6, with a Grand Slam, a double and 3 singles. She drove in 9 runs. Hannah Chamberlain was 3-4 with a double. Lindsey McEachern was 3-5 Maddie Neale was 2-5 with a double. Mackenzie Dyer was 2-5. Ruby Brown was 2-3 with 2 doubles. Maddiie Tibbetts was 2-2, Emily York was 2-3, and Hannah Hanscom was 2-3. Every MDI starter had at least 1 hit. Brown, McEachern and Thornton each had a stolen base.

In the circle Emily York pitched 5 shutout innings allowing just 2 hits, striking out 2 and walking 1.

Washington Academy's lone hits came off of the bats of Teeya Harmon and Hannah Atcherson.

MDI is now 4-3 and 2-0 this week. They have 3 more games this week, all at home. They play GSA Wednesday, May 9th at 4:30, Foxcroft Academy Thursday May 10th at 4:30 and John Bapst Saturday, May 12th at 12 Noon.

Washington Academy is now 2-4 and plays at Narraguagus on Friday, May 11th at 3:30 PM
