Photo Chris Popper Townsquare Media[/caption]During Saturday afternoon's high school game between George Steven's Academy, the MDI Cheerleaders all wore red nail polish on their thumbs. This wasn't done for Christmas, but rather to signify their commitment to not texting and driving!

As they told me during halftime, in the time that you look down at a text, your car can go the length of 3 football fields. While we all agree that no one should drink and drive, looking at your phone, or texting while driving can be as equally dangerous.

I admit, I'm not the best when it comes to not looking at my phone while driving. This afternoon, I kept my phone in my sweatshirt pocket, thanks to the example set by the MDI Cheerleaders. If you're looking for a New Year's Resolution, agreeing not to text and drive is a great one, and one we should all choose and keep!
