MDI Boys Win First 80-55

After losing a tough game to Caribou on December 29th, the MDI Boys picked up their first victory of the season 80-55 in Presque Isle on Tuesday, December 30th.

The MDI Boys led at the end of the 1st Quarter 13-10. Aaron Snurkowski had 5 points including a 3-pointer, while Andrew Phelps, Drew Rich, Russell Kropff and James O'Donnell each had 2 points. For Caribou Ben Buckley had 5 points, while freshmen Griffin Guerrette had a 3-pointer and Connor Murchison had 2 points.

The score was tied 33-33 at the half. Phelps had 5 points with a 3 pointer and Riley Swanson had 5 points as well, including 1 3-pointer. For Caribou Andrew Paterson sank 3 3-pointers for 9 points, Buckley added 6 points, and Guerrette went 4-4 from the free throw line.

In the 3rd Quarter, MDI's defensive tenacity allowed them to convert Presque Isle's turnovers, and they took a 58-42 lead. Graham Good had 6 points, Kropff had 6 points, Swanson 5 points including a 3-pointer and Snurkowski 4 points. Guerrett had a 3-pointer for Presque Isle, and Chase Norton, Buckley and Murchison each hadd 3 points for Presque Isle.

MDI was able to get everyone in the game in the 4th Quarter, and Swanson had 5 points, including another 3-pointer. Snurkowski had 5 points,Aaron Boumil had 4 points and Colby Lee, and Jake Boumil had 2 points each. For Presque Isle, Carter McLaughlin had 7 points and Cody McGlinn had 5 points.

MDI was led by Riley Swanson with 15 points, while Aaron Snurkowski had 14 points and Russell Kropff had 10 points. The Trojans were 7-12 from the free throw line.

Presque Isle was led by Ben Buckley with 13 points, while Griffin Guerrette had 10 points and Andrew Paterson had 9 points. The Wildcats were 10-18 from the free throw line.

MDI now 1-5 plays host to Ellsworth on Saturday, January 3rd at 3:30 PM in a gme that will be broadcast on WDEA AM 1370 and WDEA Internet Radio.

Presque Isle, 1-6, plays at Hermon on Saturday, January 3rd at 3:30 PM.
