The last time the MDI Boy's Basketball Team played at the Cross Insurance Center, they were bounced out of Tourney 2016 losing to Orono 61-50 on February 13th. Tonight, they served notice that they are hoping to be playing deep into Tourney 2017 in Bangor, defeating John Bapst 74-32. With the win, MDI and Winslow are the only unbeaten teams in Class B North.

MDI jumped out to a 22-10 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Andrew Phelps had 5 points, includin a 3-pointer. Graham Goodn, Aaron Snurkowski, and Riley Swanson all drained 3-pointers. Mac Shea had 4 points and Russell Kropff and Drew Rich had 2 points for the Trojans.  For John Bapst, Darren Hanscom had 6 points including a 3-pointer, Noah Tomah had 2 points and Alex Mooney went 2-4 from the free throw line for the Crusaders.

In the 2nd Quarter, MDI limited John Bapst to just 3 points, 2 by Isaac Wardwell and a free throw by Nate Galinski. Meanwhile MDI scored 22 points to take a 44-13 lead at the Half. In the 2nd Quarter Gus Reeves had 8 points including a 3-pointer. Andrew Phelps drained 2 3-pointers, Mac Shea had 6 points and Riley Swanson was 2-2 from the free throw line.

In the 3rd Quarter MDI outscored John Bapst 15-11 to take a 59-24 lead. Devin Parlatore had 7 point while Reeves, Good, Kropff and Shea had 2 points each for the Trojans. For John Bapst Noah Tomah had 5 points including a 3-pointer, Galinski, Wardwell  and J.J. Higgins had 2 points for the Crusaders.

In the 4th Quarter Jimmy Carroll had 5 points as did James McConomy for MDI, each scoring a 3-pointer. Drew Shea had 3 points and Colby Lee had 2 points for the Trojans. For John Bapst James Butler had 3 points, Jagger Cummings was 3-4 from the free throw line and Noah Dube was 2-2 from the free throw line.

Everyone with the exception of Derek Collin scored for MDI. MDI was led by Mac Shea with 12 points, while Andrew Phelps had 11 points and Gus Reeves had 10 points. The Trojans were 7-11 from the free throw line.

For John Bapst Noah Tomah had 7 points and Darren Hanscom had 6 points. The Crusaders were 10-20 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 4-0 and are off until Tuesday, December 27th when they travel to Lincoln to play the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx at 4:30 in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.

John Bapst is 2-3 and plays host to Presque Isle, Friday December 23rd at 7:30 PM at the Cross Insurance Center
