In perhaps the biggest win of the MDI Football program, the Trojans defeated the undefeated Madison Bulldogs on a beautiful night in Bar Harbor, on Friday October 7th, 20-19.

Madison won the opening coin toss and elected to receive, but they fumbled the kickoff return, and Colby Lee pounced on the ball to give MDI the ball on the Madison 32 yard line with 11:51 left in the 1st Quarter.  Chris Farnsworth powered in from the 3 yard line with 8:03 left. The Trojans tried for 2 points but failed, and led 6-0.

Madison then took over at their own 46 yard line with 7:56 left in the 1st Quarter. Sean Whalen rushed in from 2 yards out, and Mitch Jarvais kicked the extra point, and the Bulldogs led 7-6 with 3:05 left in the 1st Quarter.

MDI took the kickoff back to their own 35 yard line but was forced to turn the ball over on downs and Madison took over at their own 32 yard line with 10:38 remaining in the 2nd Quarter.

The Bulldogs scored, when Whalen ran in from 8 yards out, for his 2nd touchdown of the night. Jarvais' extra point was no good, and with 4:08 left in the 1st Half, Madison was up 13-6.

MDI took over at their own 38 yard line and was moving the ball until Chris Farnsworth was hit so hard rushing that the ball popped out of his arms and straight into the arms of Madison's Steven Ouellette who ran the ball back 70 yards for the Madison touchdown. Madison went for 2 points but couldn't convert and the Bulldogs led 19-6 with 1:30 remaining in the 1st Half.

That's how the 1st Half ended, with Madison up 19-6

In the 2nd Half, MDI received the ball and was forced to punt. Madison took over on their own 43 yard line with 9:50 remaining in the 3rd Quarter. But, Chris Farnsworth intercepted an Evan Bess pass, and the Trojans took over on their own 43 yard line with 7:23 remaining in the 3rd Quarter.

Farnsworth than broke a play, rushing 32 yards for a Trojan touchdown, the 2nd of the night for Farnsworth. Drew Rich kicked the extra point, and with 6:05 remaining in the 3rd Quarter Madison led 19-13.

MDI forced a Madison fumble and took over at their own 20 yard line and marched down the field, with Farnsworth scoring his 3rd touchdown of the night. Rich's point after attempt was good, and with 9:52 left in the game, MDI led 20-19.

Madison then took over on their own 37 yard line, and marched down to the MDI 1 yard line, but couldn't score as the Trojan's defense stiffened and the Trojans took over at their own 1 yard line with 3:55 remaining in the game.

MDI couldn't run out the clock and was forced to punt where the Bulldogs took over at their own 47 yard line with 40.8 seconds remaining.

The Bulldogs moved it to within the 5 yard line Bess connected to Whalen for 34 yards. The Trojan's defense stiffened again and tackled Nick Morales as he caught a screen pass and the clock expired giving the Trojans the 20-19 victory!

MDI is now 5-1 and is atop the Class C North Crabtree standings. They travel to Oceanside, who is 4-2, next Friday night, October 14th in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio with the pregame starting at 6:40 PM
