It's very hard to beat a team three times in the season, but that's what MDI was able to do on Saturday, October 25th as the MDI Volleyball Team defeated Ellsworth 3-1 in a Class A Quarterfinal Match in Bar Harbor. Game scores were 26-24, 25-16, 21-25, 25-16

Let's get Coach Corey's take on the game

"I think the match was everything we could have hoped for in a quarterfinal game: a great rivalry, excellent sportsmanship, and great play by both teams.  I’ve watched Ellsworth play at least 5 times this year and this was definitely the best I’ve seen from them.  They hit well, served tough, and played great defense.  It was a fun match to watch.  For our part, our girls had their best serving match of the season.  We passed well and generated some great offense.  And the defensive battle between the two teams made this exciting to watch.  When our girls got down by 11 points in the third set, they battled back to tie it and make a game of it, which was impressive.  We’re looking forward to Falmouth next week."

The Trojans, will host Falmouth, Wednesday, October 29th in the semifinals. MDI and Falmouth did not play in the regular season.

MDI is now 14-1 on the season. Ellsworth finishes the season with a 7-8 record.
