MDI Beats Bapst 35-12 [PHOTOS]

Friday night, September 30th the MDI Trojan's Football Team traveled to Husson University to play the John Bapst Crusaders and put a damper on the Crusader's Homecoming, defeating them 35-12.

John Bapst won the toss and chose to defer, giving the MDI Trojans the  ball at their 37 yard line. 5 plays and 1:15 later Chris Farnsworth scampered in from 14 yards out for the touchdown. Croix Albee ran in for the 2 point conversion and the Trojans led 8-0.

John Bapst then took over at their own 20 yard line and held the ball for 6:12 before punting it away, where the Trojans took over on their own 17 yard line with 4:21 remaining in the 1st Quarter.

The Trojans scored again, this time off of pass from Andrew Phelps to Chris Farnsworth, good for 29 yards. The drive took just 3:05. The Trojans attempted a 2 point conversion, and the pass was complete into the end zone to Drew Rich, but the side judge ruled his foot was on the sideline, so the attempt was no good, and the Trojans led 14-0.

John Bapst took over and Graham Good intercepted the ball running the ball back 15 yards, and the Trojans had the ball at the 42 yard line with 11 minutes remaining in the 1st Half.

The Trojans were driving but fumbled the ball and John Bapst had the ball on their 14 yard line with 9:44 left in the Half. MDI's defense stiffened and forced the Crusaders to go three and out and punt the ball.

MDI took over on the Crusader's 26 yard line with 8:11 remaining and 1 play later Colby Lee ran around the right side for the touchdown. The 2 point conversion was good, and the Trojans led after the 1st Half 22-0.

MDI had 168 yards rushing and 76 yards passing for 244 yards in the 1st Half. John Bapst had 24 yards rushing and 47 yards passing for 71 yards in the 1st Half.

John Bapst received the ball to start the 2nd Half and were forced to punt. The Trojans scored on the drive, which lasted 2:43. Colby Lee scored again, running in from 8 yards out. The 2 point conversion was no good and MDI led 28-0.

John Bapst got on the scoreboard, when JJ Higgins completed a pass of 4 yards to Logan Dempsey. The 2 point conversion was no good and the Trojans led 28-6.

On the kickoff, Colby Lee received the ball at the 20 yard line and ran the kickoff back 80 yards for the touchdown. Drew Rich's kick sailed through the upright and the Trojans led 35-6 with 9:30 remaining in the game.

The Crusaders were able to add another touchdown, when Higgins threw to Nick Lakeman, a 29 yard pass. The 2 point conversion was no good and the final was 35-12.

MDI is now 4-1 and will play host to Madison on Friday, October 7th for Homecoming. The game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA (provided there is no conflict with the Red Sox playoff game) as well as on WDEA Internet Radio with the pregame starting at 6:40 and kickoff at 7 PM.

John Bapst is 0-5 and plays at Old Town on Friday, October 7th at 7 PM.
