MDI and Ellsworth Baseball and Softball Playoff Schedule

It's hard to believe that the Baseball and Softball regular season that began in the bitter cold and fields still with remnants of snow on them has come to a conclusion with temperatures in the 80's. Congratulations to the Ellsworth Eagles and MDI Trojans Baseball and Softball Teams, as all 4 have qualified for the playoffs. Here's the schedule and opponents.

Ellsworth Baseball - They are the #1 seed and have earned a prelim bye with a 15-1 record. Ellsworth will host a quarterfinal game on Thursday June 7th against the winner of the #8 Nokomis Warriors - #9 Waterville Panthers prelim game on Tuesday, June 5th. According to Ellsworth Athletic Director Josh Frost both Waterville and Nokomis have Senior events that night, so the game will most likely be a 2:00 PM or earlier start. We will broadcast that quarterfinal game on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device

MDI Baseball - they are the #3 seed and just missed being the #2 seed by 0.3125 points. As the #3 seed, they will host a prelim game on Tuesday, June 5th against the #14 seed, the Caribou Vikings at 4 PM. MDI and Caribou split a doubleheader back on April 28th. We will broadcast that prelim game on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device Should MDI advance, they would host the winner of the prelim game between #6 Gardiner and #11 Belfast. That game would likely be Thursday, June 7th.

Ellsworth Softball - The Eagles are the #13 seed with a 6-10 record. They nudged MDI for the 13th seed by 0.0781 points. The Eagles will play at the #3 seed Hermon Hawk's field on Tuesday, June 5th at 4 PM in a prelim game. Hermon finished with a 13-3 record and beat Ellsworth 15-3 in Ellsworth on May 24th. The winner of the prelim game will play the winner of the #5 Foxcroft Academy - #12 Belfast prelim, on Thursday, June 7th.

MDI Softball - The Trojans are the #14 seed with a 9-7 record. The will play the #3 seed the Oceanside Mariners on Tuesday, June 5th at 4PM. The Mariners have a 13-3 record. The game will be played at Drinkwater Field in Rockland. The address of the field is 117 Thomaston Street in Rockland. The winner of the prelim game will play the winner of the #6 Medomak Valley - #11 Presque Isle prelim, on Thursday, June 7th.
