The MDI Trojans shut-out the Ellsworth Eagles Girl's Soccer Team 8-0 on Monday night, September 28th at Del Luce Stadium. The Trojans outshot the Eagles 41-11 and played the majority of the night in Eagle territory.

Opal Curless scored MDI's 1st goal, and game winner with 32:32 remaining in the first half. It would stay that way until there was 10:28 remaining in the 1st Half, when Ally Bender scored after a nice cross from Curless. The last goal of the 1st Half was scored by Curless, unassisted with 1:23 remaining to make the 1st Half score 3-0 MDI

In the 2nd Half, with 37:08 left, Paige Mason let loose a rocket that soared over Ellsworth's Callie Hammer head and into the back of the net.

With 26:09 left in the 2nd Half, Darcy Kanu scored unassisted to make the score 5-0.

Lily Turner, scored her first varsity goal for MDI with an assist from Curless with 13:39 left in the 2nd Half.

Moments later, with 11:58 left, Curless scored her 3rd goal, to give her a hat trick to go along with her two assists.

The final goal was scored by Kanu, her 2nd of the evening, with 37 seconds remaining in the game, to make the final score 8-0.

Ellsworth's Callie Hammer faced 41 shots, and saved 15, while MDI's Julianna Cleaves faced 11 shots, and recorded 10 saves.

MDI is now 6-2 and will play host to Presque Isle, Wednesday, September 30th at 4 PM. Ellsworth, now 1-7, will play host to Old Town on Thursday afternoon./
