MDI 62 Hermon 40
The MDI Boy's Basketball team traveled to Hermon on Wednesday, January 27th and came away with a 62-40 victory over the Hermon Hawks.
MDI led 15-10 at the end of the 1st Quarter and 29-20 at the half. Hermoun outscored MDI 12-11 in the 3rd Quarter to cut MDI's lead to 40-31 but MDI's defense clamped down, and the Trojans outscored Hermon 22-8 in the 4th Quarter to win 62-40.
MDI was led by Riley Swanson who had 13 points, while Aaron Snurkowski had 12 point and Drew Rich had 10 points. Snurkowski had 2 3-pointers, Swanson had 1 3-pointer and Andrew Phelps had 1 3-pointer. The Trojans were 11-21 from the free throw line.
Hermon was led by Tyler Beaton with 11 points, while Keenan Marseille, Colby Wittmer and Jordan Bishop all had 6 points. Mat Allen had a 3-pointer. The Hawks were 5-11 from the free throw line.
MDI is now 12-3. The Trojans have 3 games remaining, Friday, January 30th at home against Foxcroft Academy, Tuesday, February 2nd at Central High School and Thursday, February 4th at 7 PM when they will play Ellsworth on Senior Night. All 3 games will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.
Hermon is 7-8 and their remaining 3 games are all on the road. They play at Houlton on Saturday, January 30th, at Foxcroft Academy on Tuesday, February 2nd and at Cross Insurance Center against John Bapst on Thursday, February 4th.
