The MDI Baseball team defeated John Bapst 5-2 on Saturday, May 28th at the University of Maine. The Trojans are now 7-8 on the season with 1 regular season game remaining, at home on Tuesday, May 31st, Senior Day, with the game at 3:45 PM, which will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.

MDI jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning. Kyle Lamson singled and scored on Jacob Mitchell's single.

John Bapst tied the scored in the bottom of the 1st inning. Sam Southwick led off the inning with a double, and advanced to 3rd on a passed ball. He scored on Colin Betchel's sacrifice fly to center.

MDI scored 2 runs in the top of the 2nd inning to take a 3-1 lead. Drew Shea singled and Ezra Johnson reached on an error. They both scored, with Lamson driving in a run with a single.

In the top of the 4th inning MDI added an insurance run. Ezra Johnson doubled to start the inning. He scored on Riley Swanson's single. That made it 4-1.

The Trojans would add their final run in the 6th inning. Riley Swanson singled with 2 out and Jacob Mitchell walked. Swanson advanced on a wild pitch and scored on an error.

In the top of the 7th inning, Ben Southwick reached on a single with 2 out. He would score on Nick Lakeman's single.

For MDI Ezra Johnnson was 2-5 with a double, scoring 2 runs. Kyle Lamson was 2-5 with a RBI. Riley Swanson was 2-2 with a RBI. Jacob Mitchell was 2-3 with a RBI. Seth Young was 1-3. Drew Shea was 2-4 and Nick Stanley was 1-3.

Seth Clark pitched the first 4 innings for MDI and had 8 strikeouts. Dylan Collins pitched the final 3 innings for the Trojans, and struck out 3.

John Bapst plays their final game of the regular season on Tuesday, May 31st at Old Town at 4:30 PM.
