The MDI Trojans defeated the Ellsworth-Sumner Eagles 27-0 Friday night, August 29th on a beautiful night for football in the team's final exhibition game in Bar Harbor.

MDI got on the scoreboard with 29.9 seconds remaining in the 1st Quarter when Jalique Keene scored on a 25 yard run. Isaiah Keene kicked the extra point and the Trojans were up 7-0.

With 9:51 remaining in the 1st half, Jalique Keene took a hand-off from quarterback Colby Candage and scampered 50 yards for his second touchdown of the game. The point after attempt was no good and the score was 13-0.

In the second half, both teams played their second and thirds. With 1:27 remaining in the 3rd quarter Xan Rush scored from 3 yards out, taking the hand-off from Andrew Phelps. Rush then scored on the 2 point conversion, and the Trojans were up 21-0.

The Trojans scored their final touchdown with 10:24 left in the game, when Andrew Phelps ran it in from 13 yards out. The Trojans went for the two point conversion, but that failed, and the final score was MDI 21 Ellsworth Sumner 0.

Ellsworth opens their season at home Friday Night September 5th  at 7 PM against MCI and we will broadcast that game on WDEA Internet Radio. MDI opens the season in Newport against the Nokomis Warriors on Saturday, September 6th at 1 PM and that game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.
