Augusta Police are investigating an armed robbery in which the victim was shot.

Police say the incident happened at a home on the Burns Road in Augusta just before 5:30 Saturday morning. The 43-year-old male victim, who sustained non-life threatening injuries, told police that he had been shot by an unknown male suspect, but was unable to offer any specific details.

Witnesses told police that the suspect was a black male who was wearing a ski mask. Police say the victim was shot in the course of an armed robbery and and that the suspect made off with money and illegal drugs. Investigators don't believe that this was  a random act of violence. Instead, they say the victim was most likely targeted specifically. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Anyone who has any information in regards to this incident is asked to contact Detective Jason Cote at (207) 626-3424.
