State Police have released the identity of a man killed in a police-involved shooting. The Smyrna man was shot to death during an armed confrontation with a State Trooper and a Sheriff's Deputy.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland identified the man as Kenneth Kreyssig, age 61 of Smyrna, who lived at the house on the Smyrna Center Road with his elderly mother. Police were called to the residence Tuesday night after family members told them that Kreyssig was suicidal.

The two officers involved in the shooting are State Police Sergeant Chad Fuller and Aroostook County Deputy Sheriff Stewart Kennedy. Both have been placed on paid administrative leave as the incident is investigated by the Attorney General's office. This is standard procedure in all police-involved shootings.
