A man is in jail tonight for threatening his neighbor and then shooting a gun in his apartment. The man's caseworker was with him when he fired the handgun.

Bangor Police said in a press release that the incident happened at 12:45 Thursday afternoon at 60 Cumberland Street. 59-year-old James Corbett was having a discussion with his caseworker about a dispute he had with one of his neighbors. The caseworker told police that Corbett brandished a Glock, 9mm pistol and made several threatening statements about the neighbor.

After some discussion, Corbett removed the loaded magazine from the gun but didn't take out the chambered round. He then pointed the gun at the ceiling and fired. No one was injured because the area above his apartment is an attic space.

Police arrested Corbett and charged him with Reckless Conduct with a Dangerous Weapon and Terrorizing. He's being held at Penobscot County Jail.
