Catabaloo  we won!  Maine has been rated number one in the best state for a cat to live. Purrrrfect! The survey was conducted by Estately. They looked for things like lifespans, the number of households with feline family members, frequency of heartworm disease, number of no-kill shelters, Facebook “likes” for cats,  and other factors to determine our list of the ten best U.S. states for cat lovers. It seems that having a cat in your lap is more favorable in the northern states. Here are the ratings:

  1. Maine
  2. Vermont
  3. New Hampshire
  4. Washington
  5. West Virginia
  6. Oregon
  7. Montana
