What looked on paper to be a great pitching match-up, in reality was just that as Jon Lester out dueled Masahiro Tanaka in a 2-1 Red Sox win over the Yankees.David Ross homered early in the game to give the Sox the lead before New York tied it up with an unearned run off Lester who had a no-hitter going until Brett Gardner singled to break it up in the bottom of the sixth inning. Lester went eght innings allowing just 5 hits and striking out 6.

Mike Napoli won the game with two outs in the 9th inning with a solo blast off Tanaka, his 10th of the season. Koji Uehara came on to pitch a perfect bottom of the 9th for his 17th save.

These two teams conclude the series tonight at 8 PM, before the Sox return to Fenway to take on the Chicago Cubs. Remember you can hear this game, and every game on AM 1370 WDEA
