A bad season became worse, as Red Sox closer has been diagnosed with a non-displaced distal radius fracture in his right wrist. Koji Uehara has been placed on the disabled list and will be lost to the Red Sox for the rest of the season. He is signed through 2016 and is scheduled to earn 9 million dollars.

Uehara has been one of the bright spots for the Red Sox pitching staff in 2015. He ends the season with a 2-4 record and 2.23 ERA. He appeared in 43 games and converted 25 of 27 saves.

Uehara was injured Saturday night on the last play of the game.

The news of Uehara's fracture comes a day after the Boston Red Sox designated Justin Masterson for assignment on Sunday, August 9th.

The Boston Red Sox play on Tuesday and Wednesday against Miami in Florida. Tuesday night's pregame begins at 6:20 on AM 1370 WDEA.
