Thanks in part to a David Ortiz milestone home run, Sox pitcher Joe Kelly was staked to a 5-1 lead over Tampa Bay...and then came the sixth inning.

Kelly gave up four consecutive hits and then walked in a run. Before the inning was over, the Rays had tied the game 5-5. Tampa Bay then scored two runs in the seventh inning and the Sox never recovered. Rays win 7-5.

Kelly wound up with a terrible pitching line - 5+ innings, 5 runs on 8 hits.

The Ortiz home run was his 469th career homer and 1,538th RBI. He moves past Chipper Jones for 32nd on the all-time HR list and moves past Joe DiMaggio for 46th on the all-time RBI list.

The rubber game of the three games series tonight features Clay Buchholz vs Jake Odorizzi with the pregame starting at 6:20 PM on AM 1370 WDEA.
