The Boston Red Sox were looking for the first 5-game win streak of the season but fell behind early and lost to the Kansas City Royals 6-3.The Royals jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead off Sox starter Matt Barnes in the top of the first inning and never trailed as they put a stop to Boston's 4-game win streak and snapped an 0 for 5 streak against the Sox this season.

Barnes would settle in after the first and and keep the Royals off the board until the 6th inning when Salvador Perez launched a 3-run homer to break the game open.

David Ortiz reached base 5 times thanks to a couple base hits and 3 walks, Xander Bogaerts added 2 hits of his own. However, Royals starter Yordano Ventura kept the rest of the Boston order in check allowing just 6 hits over 6 innings while striking out 6 and walking 1.

The two teams play the finale of their 4-game series today with Eduardo Rodriguez getting the start for the Sox, the pregame begins at 12:50 on AM 1370 WDEA
