State police say speed and alcohol were likely factors in a single car crash that claimed the life of a Jonesboro man. 48-year-old Daniel Snowdeal was alone in the car and died at the scene just before 3 this morning.

Police say that Snowdeal was on Route 1A headed toward Route 1 in Jonesboro when he lost control of his 2003 Hyundai Elantra. The car crossed into the opposite lane, struck a pole, and ended up on its roof in the ditch.

Snowdeal, who was alone in the car, was not wearing a seatbelt, although the airbags did deploy. He sustained severe trauma and died at the scene. Police say speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the early morning crash.
